If you only want to do 'one or the other' you'd have to work with artwork from other artists if you take the game dev route.
The drawn art has less dependencies and no bug-hunting. Plus: Images will still work in 'the next Unity' decides to do the most massively stupid thing. Since you seem to see both as equally appealing options, it sounds like you would be better off with drawn art.
